Description: IGF-1 LR3 is a synthetic, 83-amino acid analog of human IGF-1. It has been modified by the substitution of an Arginine for Glutamic Acid at position 3 and the addition of a 13-amino acid extension peptide at the N-terminus.
Mechanism: These modifications significantly decrease the peptide's affinity for IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs). In research settings, this results in a much higher concentration of "free" IGF-1 and a significantly extended half-life (approximately 20–30 hours) compared to standard IGF-1.
